The game of ‘ Squash’ was introduced in Nepal in 1977 with a single wooden floored court at Battisputali Kathmandu. Very few people knew of the existence of this court and as a result this game remained within reach of the well to do only. Over time, court to play this game were limited within clubs and hotels only.

Nepal Squash Racket Association ( NSRA) was formed in 1988. The Association became more active in 1993 after it bad obtained government land at the Sports Complex located in Sat Dobato, Lalitpur.

With the aim to promote the game of squash among the general public, Nepal Squash Racket Association ( NSRA) has managed to build four international standard squash courts at Sardobato, Lalitpur with its own resources and effort. In the near future, the Association has plans to make similar facilities in Pokhara, Birgunj, Biratnagar and Nepalgunj encompassing the five development regions. The courts located at Satdobato are open to the public.

Furthermore, to promote the game to the general public, NSRA is organizing an International Tournament for the first time in Nepal. About 100 players and officials from Asian Countries will be participating in the Asian Masters Squash Championships.

Aim of Nepal Squash Rackets Association ( NSRA)

• To promote the game of Squash in the country.
• To produce young and talented players as national & international athletes.
• To Extend infrastructure facilities in other part of the country especially to schools.
• To provide hostel facility to the players and conduct closed comps.
• To conduct National and International tournaments.
• To promote Sports tournament.
• To provide opportunity to the players and officials to visit abroad for training and tournament.
The game of Squash is suitable for all age groups and all levels from young 13 years old to a busy business man. It is an easy game to play requiring only a basic standard of hand to eye coordination, balances and racket skill. The beauty of squash is that one can obtain maximum exercise in minimum hour of jogging and the game provides sixteen ways of fitness to the body.

One may play this game during the lunch time for half an hour and after having lunch may return back to work on time. Due to the nature of the game and infrastructure it is an all weather game come rain or sunshine, day or night!

Since this is an individual game, investment to produce better players will not be expensive compared to team games like football. Therefore Nepal can produce world class Squash players like Pakistan if opportunity is given to the Nepalese youth.
